Volunteers Invited to Balmoral

Following a most encouraging survey, in the Albion Dry Dock, last week, of the Bristol Channel Pleasure ‘Steamer’ Balmoral, more volunteers are now needed to join the team working to prepare Balmoral for return to Pleasure Sailings in the Bristol Channel.

Everyone who is interested in finding out more is warmly welcomed to an Open Day on board the ship this Saturday (October 12) at anytime from 9.30am onwards, when there will be the opportunity to tour the ship and meet with the present team. No special qualifications are needed to play a part but there will, of course, be roles to play for those who are, or have been, involved in ship repairs, engineering, and as ship’s crew and officers.

Balmoral is the last sea-going ship registered in the Port of Bristol and is being prepared to return to full-time day trips and cruises from and to Bristol, Clevedon, Weston, Minehead and Ilfracombe, and South Wales, continuing the great tradition of the P & A Campbell White Funnel Fleet which first began from Bristol in 1887.

Balmoral is owned by a Registered Charity and is moored at Mardyke Wharf in Bristol City Docks, directly opposite the ‘Great Britain’ and the Albion Dry Dock.
